When one have a first glimpse over Dell Slim 12” (or Dell Inspiron Mini 12), one would say another notebook from Dell or is it netbook really? I don’t see a netbook size yet find an Atom there… Anyways, when one dig deep into Dell Slim 12” specs; one is pretty much sure that there is something between notebook and netbook thing that should first of all be a true lightweight mobile laptop machine and its none other than Dell hitting that spot with Dell Slim 12”…

For people who does not fit in 1024×600 for those who are fade up of hearing same Atom 270 configuration, Dell has come up with a different stroke. Dell Slim 12” embed high resolution display with a more conventional 1280×800 resolution. Moreover, Dell is first one to put in Atom Z520 Silverthorne along with Poulsbo chipset (Poulsbo includes 3D graphics, HD video playback (720p and 1080i content) and the memory controller.)

Dell is able to offer 3-cell battery using both silverthorne and pousbo even with a 12” display then. There is not much attention to true mobile connectivity and limiting it to conventional LAN and Wifi as found in every other netbook.

Finishing is almost same as used in Inspiron Mini but looks reminds me of Dell Studio line if one Dell gives it a color or texture. With almost 30 cm square and 23 cm deep, the Slim weighs only 1.24 kg with battery cells 3.

The GMA 500 graphics chipset integrated should not leave us with much amaze but enough render a nice eye candy over 12” display. Besides only 1.3 megapixel camera and a microphone, the machine gets all the elements common to existing Netbook.

The very first advertised price in Japan is $600 which is a lot less than Asus EeePC S101 anyways… Dell is getting really sweet here providing all thats required with a reasonable price tag…
